Vermont

Vermont has undertaken a number of initiatives to develop the availability and skills of the direct care worker workforce, including the founding and initial development of the Vermont Association of Professional Care Providers (VAPCP). The goals of the Direct Care Worker Infrastructure Development project are to underpin these initiatives so the state’s efforts to support direct care workers will operate from a solid platform.

The National Direct Service Workforce Resource Center will be providing Vermont with intensive technical assistance with the following tasks:

• Developing the organizational capacity of VAPCP so it can better carry forward its mission of enhancing the voice and skills of direct care workers. This will include further committee development, marketing, leadership, organizational development, and developing a plan for ensuring the long-term viability of the organization.
• Developing a direct care worker registry and coordinating marketing efforts to both workers and consumers to assure that messages are clearly articulated and consistent.
  

Populations served: Aging, ID/DD, Physical Disabilities, Adults with Dementia, and some Children with a Mental Health Diagnosis
